Construction began in 447 BC and it was completed in 438 BC. Although over the centuries the buildings of the Acropolis are damaged, it is fascinating that still exists in all its shine and glory.
This famous ruined temple -Temple of Olympian Zeus is located near the national gardens and Plaka, and was the largest temple of the ancient world, dedicated to the god Zeus.
Construction began in 515 BCE but it finished only 700 years later. Today there are only 15 of the original 104 marble columns. The columns are 17 meters high and 2 meters in diameter, on the edge of a sights are triumphal gate known as Hadrian’s Arch. In the ancient world was famous because it contained a statue of Zeus, which was the the work of sculptor Phidias. The temple was demolished 426. by order of the eastern emperor Theodosius II.
The main square in Athens is Syntagma Square. The square is huge and the geometric shape, and is a major point of interest for any traveler. From there begins all of the most popular streets of Athens. Popularity of Parliament is not because the building itself, but due to the famous “change of guard” which takes place every day at 18 o’clock.

It is known as the “Neighborhood of the Gods” due to its the vicinity to the Parthenon and other main archaeological sites.
